TACA
is a non-profit umbrella organization dedicated to providing
financial support and services, and to increasing public awareness
and participation in the performing arts of North Texas.
During the past 30 years, our community has made tremendous strides
in the support and development of its performing arts organizations.
As established groups have flourished, new arts groups have emerged
and prospered. TACA began as an auction to benefit the Dallas
Theater Center in 1966 and has evolved into a year-round support
organization that, to date has distributed more than $16 million to
approximately 138 established and developing arts organizations.
TACA raises its funds primarily through special events. While TACA
organizes numerous events throughout the year, the two largest are:
the Proscenium, A Weekend with TACA Hosted by
Rosewood Mansion on
Turtle Creek, Benefiting the Performing Arts of North Texas, and the TACA
Silver Cup Award Luncheon Presented by
Chase and
Neiman Marcus.

The TACA
Silver Cup Award Luncheon is held annually in the
spring. Civic volunteer and former Dallas mayor Annette Strauss
began the Silver Cup Award Luncheon in 1979 to recognize one man and
one woman for their outstanding volunteer contributions to the arts
in Dallas. The 2008 TACA Silver Cup Award Luncheon
Presented by Chase and Neiman Marcus marks the 30th year of the event and will take place March 6, 2008 in the
Chantilly Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. The 2008 TACA Silver Cup recipients are Elaine Agather and Brad Todd.
